Chiefs once again triumph over Bucs

Just as Chiefs arch rivals Orlando Pirates finally come to terms with dealing with their ABSA Cup Final Defeat to the might of the Amakhosi and indeed a season in which Chiefs ultimately triumphed three times over them. This is the first time in recorded history that one of the Soweto derby rivals has been able to inflict defeat on their rival three times in a season. Up comes another fixture pitting the two rivals up against each other, this time in the form of a SAFA Southern Gauteng U-19 league game.



The game played at the Orlando Pirates training centre in Mayfair Johannesburg saw the young Chiefs emulating the achievements of the senior team. As they ran out victors by a solitary goal thanks to a strike by Lebohang Ramosela which helped Chiefs to victory and continued the Amakhosi’s dominance over their arch rivals this season.



In other development news the Kaizer Chiefs Under 19 team will be travelling to the Eastern Cape on the weekend of the 16th June to participate in a Youth day tournament. This will be third consecutive year that the Chiefs under 19 team will be involved in this tournament and will play against their counterparts from Jomo Cosmos in East London on Friday 16th June.



Meanwhile the Chiefs u-15 team will be in action in the Manchester United premier cup sponsored by Nike, the young Chiefs will be aiming to win the South African leg of the qualifiers. Which will book their passage to the international event, to be held at Old Trafford in Manchester later in the year. The South African qualifiers for what has now become on of the world’s premier junior club competition will take place at the Simba Stadium in Pimville Soweto on June 16th.



Chiefs last participated in the global version of the annual event in 2004, but were knocked out in the semi finals of last year’s tournament and looked on as the Moroka Swallows u-15 team came out victorious. The young birds then represented South Africa at the 2005 Manchester United Premier Cup which was held in Hong Kong and co-incided with the Manchester United senior teams tour of the Far East.
