Chiefs’ quartet withdrawn from Bafana

Kaizer Chiefs quartet of Siphiwe Tshabalala, Bernard Parker, Captain Itumeleng Khune and Tsepo Masilela will not be joining Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming friendly games in Australia and New Zealand due to an assortment of injuries.



Tshabalala is suffering from a toe injury, Parker is scheduled to undergo surgery to his ankle, Masilela has a knee injury that is under observation while Captain Itumeleng Khune has a groin strain and is still recovering from the ankle injury he suffered during the season.



The Chiefs quartet was included in Coach Gordon Igesund 18-man Bafana Bafana squad to play Australia and New Zealand later this month.



Erick Mathoho will join the squad after he was called up as a replacement to the injured Siyanda Xulu.



Bafana Bafana leave for Australia on 22 May and play the Socceroos on 26 May before proceeding to New Zealand for a date with the New Zealanders on 30 May. The matches will be played in Sydney and Auckland respectively.
