As a result, Amakhosi could take a bit longer out of the starting blocks, but they should nevertheless beat Arrows.
But Amakhosi coach Ted Dumitru was happy that despite the break none of the teams that were active capitalised on the situation as they dropped valuable points in the process. "They were very generous to us and I must thank them for that," said Dumitru.
"I believe it's now a two-horse race (between Chiefs and Ajax)," said Dumitru. "We've been given a bonus by these clubs while we were on leave."
Amakhosi have been awesome, and have only conceded two goals in the league so far this season. However, they come up against an Arrows side that is slowly starting to gel under new coach Simon Ngomane.
The Durban club collected maximum points against Supersport United over the weekend and stayed over for the Chiefs clash. They also boost some of the most skilful players in the league and could give their glamorous counterparts a torrid night.
Junior international Mabhudi Khanyeza - the club’s current top scorer with three goals - can be a handful to if left unchecked but good news for Amakhosi is that Khanyeza will not be on the par after collecting his third yellow card over the weekend.
While the Chiefs rearguard will be busy dosing off the fires from the Arrows arsenal, Arrows goalkeeper David Phiri could well be one of the busiest men on the pitch, as Chiefs will likely attack from the outset. He has in the past been able to keep his side in the match on his own, and this will be one time that he will have to be at his best.
Amakhosi veteran midfielder John Moshoeu is back from the Nations Cup and is likely to start from the bench with Thabo Mooki probably given a start. Moshoeu has been involved in most of the goals that Chiefs have scored, and will once again be the man to watch once given a run.
