Kaizer Chiefs Reserves were held to a 1 all draw by a 10 men University of Pretoria in an entertaining Gauteng Monday League clash played at Eldorado Park Stadium on Monday, 13 May 2013.
Tricky Itumeleng ‘Scara’ Moshobane gave the hosts the lead with a well taken goal from close range in the 39th minute before his strike was cancelled in 63rd minute by Ayanda Lubelo.
Chiefs went into the game following a good run and were as usual confident on the ball with Philani ‘Iniesta’ Cele and Khotso ‘Mshini’ Malope dominating the proceedings in the middle of the park.
Shawn Malinga partnered by Lorenzo Gordinho kept Tuks strikers at bay with the latter clearing from the line in the 38th minute before the hosts scored following a brilliant break attack that was applauded by senior team, Assistant Coach Doctor Khumalo who witnessed the game from the stands.
It was 1-0 at halftime.
Reyaad Pieterse had a busy second half pulling a superb save in the 59th minute from a close range. He did well to save Luyanda Lubelo’s initial shot from close range before being beaten with the rebound.
Pieterse was again at his best in the 69th minute as the visitors looked for a winner but a draw was a fair result of the game.
An enthusiastic Tebuho Monyai was sent off midway in the second half for elbowing Nicholas Mynhardt.
