Kaizer Chiefs put themselves back into the Castle Premiership race with a 4-2 win over log leaders Moroka Swallows at Olympia Park on Wednesday night.

Chiefs led 2-1 at halftime.

Swallows coach Gavin Hunt was swearing blue murder after referee

Lawrence Monnathoko awarded Chiefs a 85th minute penalty after he ruled that Birds defender Warren Lewis had fouled Amakhosi substitute David Radebe inside his penalty area.

Patrick Mabedi made no mistake from the spot to make the score 3-2 and then in the last minute Kabamba Musasa scored his second and Chiefs fourth to wrap up the points.

Earlier in the 80th minute Monnathoko sent off Birds midfielder

Lucas Sebona for punching Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy in the

80th minute.

Chiefs finally found their confidence after Samuel Ngobeni gave

the Birds a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute.

Swallows deserved their goal but it was a different story after the goal with Chiefs stamping their authority on the game thanks mainly to the pace of striker Shaun Permall and the experience of veteran midfielder John "Shoes" Moshoeu.

Chiefs exposed the disjointed Swallows defence and it took only 16 minutes for Chiefs to draw level thanks to a mistake from goalkeeper Greg Etafia, who failed to stop Stanton Fredericks' shot at the near post which gave the home side the equaliser.

Permall caused a lot of problems with his speed and crosses from

the right while David Kannemeyer also caught the Swallows defence

out with some accurate crossing from the left flank.

Chiefs kept up the pressure and were rewarded when Kabamba Musasa headed home a Permall cross to give Chiefs the lead in the 26th minute.

Etafia redeemed himself with two great saves off Musasa (38th) and Fredericks in the 42nd minute.

Swallows struck back when captain Gary McNab scored a brilliant long range goal that completely fooled keeper Brian Baloyi to level matters in the 52nd minute.

Then with this hard fought encounter heading for a draw, Chiefs got their penalty and the match changed in Amakhosi's favour.
