The two teams battled hard throughout the ninety minutes in an attempt to break each other down but neither team was successful.

United’s chances were few and far between and they battled to find any clear-cut goal scoring opportunities.

David Radebe had the first chance for Kaizer Chiefs after he received an excellent ball from Arthur Zwane but his resulting shot was disappointingly wide of Calvin Marlin’s goal.

Cyril Nzama saw a superb chance go begging when he got onto the end of Gerald Sibeko’s cross and powered a header at goal, which ran metres wide of Marlins left upright.

In the second half Chiefs’ Radebe had the ball in the back of the net, however, Chiefs’ celebrations were abruptly cut after the linesman had ruled him offside.

Chiefs had another chance late in the game to pull ahead but Mbesuma’s shot sailed over the crossbar from close range and posed no problem for Marlin.

Lungisani Ndlela had a tough time getting ahead of his marker, however, late in the game he had a good chance to steal the three points for SuperSport, but his header was well saved by Rowen Fernandez.

SuperSport United coach Pitso Mosimane was unhappy with referee Charl Theron and his linesman after the game and voiced his frustrations. Mosimane was given a stern talking to during the game for his lashing out at the referee team.

The result will come as a disappointment for Kaizer Chiefs, who lacked that attacking spark in the middle of the park. Gerald Sibeko put in an effort before he was replace by John Moshoeu. who gave what he had. but the midfield did not create the required chances.

The Amakhosi will know that a win was essential to keep in touch with League leaders Orlando Pirates. SuperSport will surely be satisfied with the 0-0 result.
