Kaizer Chiefs will get an opportunity to parade new signings when they square up with Moroka Swallows during the Gauteng Sports Challenge at Lucas ‘Masterpieces’ Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday, 21 July 2012.

The Glamour Boys have signed up to eight players including the likes of Morgan Gould, Eric Mathoho, Siboniso Gaxa and Siyabonga Nkosi who will be on his second spell with the Club are expected to feature in what promises to be a super charged encounter between the Soweto rivals. Tickets for the game have been selling like hot cakes and the stadium will no doubt be covered in e gold and black plus most supporters will be dressed in the new away royal blue kit.

Chiefs Corporate Communications Manager, Vina Maphosa urged the fans to continue buying tickets; “The supporters of the other participating three teams should scramble for sitting at the stadium as the Chiefs supporters will be dominating the sitting space .”

“Our intention is to paint the stadium with Chiefs colours and we are pleased in the manner our branches have responded to the call to attend the game. There are few tickets left at Computicket and we would like to urge our fans to continue buying the tickets,” he said.

On the playing front the Glamour Boys have been hard at work under the tutelage of Head Coach, Stuart Baxter with Morgan Gould telling kaizerchiefs.com that they are looking for a flying start in the Gauteng Sports Challenge.

“It is important that we do well in all the competitions we participating in and it will not be different on Saturday when we participate in the Gauteng Sports Challenge. We of course want to win it but we have to acknowledge that we are still in a preparation phase as the team.

“The players have all responded well to the philosophy of the Coach. We are all starting from scratch with the new coach and no one is guaranteed a place in the team. There are no guarantees in football. We all have to work hard and earn our places in the team.

Gould is aware that Moroka Swallows will be a mountain to climb after they had one of their best seasons in the PSL history where they finished as Runner’s Up in the Absa Premiership notably losing home and away to Chiefs.

“They are a team on a high at the moment having done very well last season. They also have had continuity on their squad with the assistant coach assuming the coaching reigns while there has not been much changes in their playing squad.”

The former SuperSport defender is also pleased with the way the camp went; “We worked very hard in training and the players are beginning to understand the philosophy of the coach. I have also learnt a lot about teamwork and working for one another.”
