Kaizer Chiefs are convinced that their plans to make history by becoming the first club to win the inaugural Absa Cup, were right on track.

Speaking after Amakhosi were drawn against Ajax Cape Town in

Johannesburg on Monday, Chiefs spokesman Putco Mafani said: "It's a

tough one but we don't anticipate problems.

"Ajax are in big trouble. As Chiefs we are not bothered by the

fact that we are playing them in Cape Town because of the massive

support the we command throughout the country.

"There is no doubt that we are going to enjoy more support on

the day of the match. We are delighted to be facing coach Gordon

Igesund (of Ajax) again and our boys can't wait for the day of the

match.

"Jabu Pule (whose suspension expires at the end of this month)

is also itching to return to action and there is a possibility that

he will be available for this match, depending on his fitness

level.

"It will be up to the technical staff on that one. Jabu has been

training hard and also featured for the reserve side during the

opening of a stadium in Huhudi (North West) last Friday."

Chiefs qualified for the Last-16 stage after routing amateur

side Sporting of Mpumalanga 5-0 at Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday,

while Ajax walloped Dynamos 3-1 in Cape Town.

The Last-16 matches will be played on April 5 and 6 and the

venues will be announced on Tuesday, said league spokesman Lunga

Williams during the draw at the sponsors' premises in Johannesburg.

In another match, Orlando Pirates got a tricky away draw to

Seshego, Limpopo where they will take on First Division League

Inland stream log leaders Silver Stars.

"It's a tough draw because cup matches are always unpredictable.

You will recall that Stone Breakers of Seshego once caused an upset

by beating Kaizer Chiefs in a competition," said Bucs spokesman

Thabiso Parkies.

"We are not going to take them lightly because they have also

worked hard to reach the Last-16. Obviously, our main aim is to win

this tournament and the league," added Parkies.

Pirates beat Bush Bucks 2-1 in Phokeng at the weekend to advance

to the second round, while Silver Stars registered a 2-0 win over

amateur side Winnerspark in Giyani.

Sundowns will have to wait until Wednesday for the Last-32 stage

match between Manning Rangers and arch-rivals SuperSport United in

KwaZulu-Natal to know their opponents.

"I would love to meet SuperSport and nobody else for obvious

reasons," said Sundowns public relations manager Alex Shakoane,

whose club will enjoy a home ground advantage after being drawn

first.

Jomo Cosmos should easily stroll into the quarterfinals after

being pitted against amateur side Leicester City in Klerksdorp,

while Hellenic will be at home to Black Leopards.

Reigning league champions Santos were also drawn at home against

African Wanderers, while Bloemfontein Celtic host Rygersdal Aces in

Bloemfontein.

Premier Soccer League chief executive officer Trevor Phillips

said: "We are excited that the first round matches got off to a

good start and the clubs displaying great football.

"This augurs well for the development of football to see that

amateur clubs are also through to the second round."
