Kaizer Chiefs striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has vowed to work harder in the upcoming season owing to his unusual low key 2012-13 season. The Ladybrand, Free State Province born prolific striker did not get a regular start in the Amakhosi’s League and Cup Double winning season. Competing for the striking role with the likes of Kingston Nkhatha, Bernard Parker, Kaizer Motaung Jnr, and S’thembiso Ngcobo, Majoro struggled to stamp his authority in the Glamour Boys’ front row even though he hammered in some crucial goals including scoring the equalizer during the 1-1 drawn Soweto Derby on the 8th of December 2012.
“I enjoyed the offseason break at home, with my family, in Ladybrand. I spent most of the time with my mother, father and sister, though I made time for my friends as well. I took my mother out for shopping and enjoyed some moments with friends attending events in and around the township.
One thing I couldn’t afford to forget was to keep fit, I didn’t do much of running though, I engaged in a lot of gym work to build my muscles and maintain fitness level. The past season was a bit difficult for me as I didn’t command a regular place in the starting line-up. I was happy with my scoring rate considering the number of games I played.”
The player known as ‘Major’ to Amakhosi faithful scored a total of 11 goals, 9 in the league and 2 in the cup competitions during the past season. Majoro was second highest goal scorer to Bernard Parker (13 league goals) at the Club and 4 goals short to challenge the eventual 2012-13 PSL Golden Boot winner (Katlego Mashego of Moroka Swallows).
“Everything has been going well since we started with the preseason preparations. We are now at Camp and also the National Team (Itumeleng Khune, Reneilwe Letsholanyane, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Tefu Mashamaite, Bernard Parker, Eric Mathoho and Matthew Rusike) players have arrived. The new signee, Knowledge Musona, has also joined us here. We welcomed him, ‘Smiling Assassin’, he is a top quality player and it is always good to compete with such a player. His arrival will improve one’s game in terms of growth and development. It will make us hungrier as we battle it out for the striking position in the Team.
Once again we are looking forward to a fruitful season and would like to thank and encourage the supporters to continue to give us their undying support during the upcoming season. They always complement our efforts with their presence and cheering us at the games.”
