Chiefs face Mazembe in the 16:00 kick-off following an emphatic 4-1 victory against another DRC side FC Lupopo in the semifinals at the Mmabatho Stadium. Orlando Pirates, who lost 4-2 on penalties against Mazembe, will fight for third place against Lupopo in the Third Place Play-off at 12:30.
Vodacom Challenge tournament director Emy Casaletti-Page said the decision was taken to accommodate the public broadcaster as they have a crucial African Nations Cup qualifying match between Bafana and Burundi in Bujumbura. The Bafana match kicks off at 15:00.
"We have moved the kick-off time in an effort to help the SABC in the flighting time as Bafana play Burundi on the same day during which time we will keep the supporters updated.
"Broadcast for the final will only commence at 17:00 on SABC. So if you want to catch the action live, make sure that you are at the stadium on July 6," said Casaletti-Page.
"This is the compromise we had to make," said an SABC employee who spoke to kickoff.com anonymously.
