The Phefeni Glamour Boys are currently leading PSL standings with 45 points while second placed Orlando Pirates are five points adrift. The match between the two sides is scheduled to kickoff at 15h30 and it was sold out days before the kick-off is a testimony of how important the game is to both set of supporters.

Addressing a huge media audience at the Vodacom World, Stuart Baxter commented; “The winner in the Derby on Saturday will have a strong impetus on the two teams going forward towards the trophy chase. There is still a lot of football to be played by both teams hence the Derby on Saturday will not decide the destiny of the title.

“It is the game that has a potential of bringing the country to a standstill. I am hoping both teams will dish good football as compared to the Derby back in December 2012. It is a huge event that will be watched by people around the world. We have been making headlines for wrong reasons in the past couple of weeks and through this game we can change how the world look at us.

“I hope we make the event a success from the players on the field, Technical Team, the officials that will be working on the event and the fans create an atmosphere that will remain in the hearts of people for a long time.

Back on the game, Baxter said he and his charges are expecting a tough game from their arch-rivals who managed a draw against Celtic on Wednesday evening.

“It will be a tough game and results from the previous game count for nothing. The derby is all about mental aspect and I think a stronger side will win it.

Chiefs will be missing one or two players due to injuries; “It has been like this for us the whole season but the squad has responded positively on these challenges. There was a feeling at some stage that we needed to strengthen the team but now we see other players raising their hands to be counted. We have a competitive squad and any of the players is capable of doing well for the team given an opportunity.

The coach hailed Kaizer Motaung Jnr who came in as a substitute to score in the game against Chippa on Wednesday; “K is an absolute professional. He never complains and just gets on with his job. I am happy for him, for the team and for the goal he scored on Wednesday.

He and the likes Sthe (Sthembiso Ngcobo) who also came in as a substitute continue to feature in our plans going forward,” added Baxter.
