Kaizer Chiefs U17 beat the School of Excellence 5 – 4 on penalties last Wednesday, 16 October 2013, in Elandsfontein. The fulltime score ended at 1 - 1.
All the U17 SAFA Soweto Regional league games have to play to a result. The winning team on penalties is awarded two points while the loser is awarded one point.
Kaizer Chiefs came from behind to level the score through Mpho Khumalo’s well taken goal. The Amakhosi juniors penalties came from K Mothapo, T Lebese, T Khiba, J Nthaki and M Sithole.
The U17s goalkeeper Phetolo Mophothoma saved two of the spot-kicks to inspire Coach Arthur Zwane’s team to victory.
The U17s lost 2-1 (B Konki) to Midas FC on Saturday, 20 October 2013. The Amakhosi juniors played without some of their players that are currently involved in school final exams. The game at Die Fakkel School Grounds marked the final league game of the SAFA Soweto Regional league. The Amakhosi juniors will be waiting in anticipation to be declared the winners of their region in due course.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs U19, lost 3 – 2 Manats FC on Sunday, 21 October 2013, in the Castle League fixture. Coach Ntsie Maphike’s lads led 2 – 0 in the first half only to allow Manats back into the game.
