The Doctor Khumalo Benefit game that was supposed to take place between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in Port Elizabeth on Sunday has been postponed indefinitely.

The game, which is bring down a curtain on a programme that started two years ago, was to be televised on SuperSport 6 at 15:00. However, due to other unforeseen circumstances, the game had to be called off.

It would be difficult to come up with other suitable date before the start of the new season, given the fact that the Glamour Boys will be featuring in the Vodacom Challenge in the last week of June and first week of July before they fly to South Korean on July 10 for the World Peace King Cup.

The last week of July will be reserved for a 2010 Bid Challenge that will feature two of the world’s top clubs against the cream of the PSL crop.

A week later the Premiership season kicks-off with the Telkom Charity Cup where Amakhosi are, as always, expected to participate. Then the Super Eight Challenge will follow in a couple of weeks.

"It is really with regret that we have to postpone indefinitely particularly for our fans in Easter Cape who have been calling day and night in anticipation for a great event.

"Our branches have already started making preps particularly PE branch. We still feel Doc deserves this benefit game and it could be a blessing in disguise for Eastern Cape if we do it in summer," said Chiefs PR manager Putco Mafani.
