Assistant Coach, Doctor Khumalo has backed the Club decision to sign highly rated defender, Siboniso Gaxa and with a few other players reportedly coming he believes the Club is going towards the right direction.

Khumalo won three league titles; more than 10 domestic cups including the Mandela Cup in 2004 spoke out for the first time following a season that saw the Glamour Boys not collecting a single trophy in the Premier League.

“It has been a long and painful season especially for our supporters who have supported the team through and through in our proud 42 year history.

“This is not the time to point fingers but to take lessons from what has happened. I have no doubt that the Club is going to bounce back even stronger next season.

Winning at Kaizer Chiefs has always been part of the culture and it is important that it goes back to winning ways next season,” said Khumalo speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Wednesday afternoon.

The Club announced last week that former Bafana Bafana and Finland Coach, Stuart Baxter will take over the reins next season and that announcement was followed this week by the announcement of the acquisition of Siboniso Gaxa.

“I have already had an opportunity to meet the Coach and we are all looking forward to working with him in taking the Club to the next level.

I would also like to welcome Siboniso Gaxa to the team. His signing is a clear intention for the Club to challenge for big things next season. He trained with us on Wednesday and it is easy to see why he has been in the Bafana Bafana squad for the past couple of years.

I have no doubt that he is going to add value to the team. I am quite aware that the Club is looking to sign a few other players and I feel this is a step towards the right direction.

Khumalo pointed towards the vision of Club’s Executive Chairman, Kaizer Motaung as the reason the Club has in the 42 years of history stood shoulders above the rest; “The Club is in good hands and the Executive Chairman has always been the heartbeat of the Club. He personifies what Kaizer Chiefs stands for and remains an inspiration to all of us,” added Khumalo.
