League champions Kaizer Chiefs have just completed the registration of their players for the season by finalising a deal with another hot Zambian striker Songwe “Tshawe” Chalwe, thereby beating the player registration deadline on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 as PSL club officials from around the country flocked the offices of the league for registrations.

Chalwe’s three-year deal with Amakhosi ends several days of speculations about the deadly striker who is renowned for partnering the club’s Collins Mbesuma in the countrymen’s under-23 and senior national teams.

Asked for comment club spokesman Putco Mafani said: “Now we have finalised all aspects of our tricky puzzle and our machine is ready to continue grinding.

"Anyone wishing to see Chalwe in action must come to our next games and not send messengers. Mbesuma and Chalwe together are bad news to local defenders. This is Double Trouble,“ said an excited Mafani.

Amakhosi have opted to promote enterprising 17-year-old Itumeleng Isaac Khune from the club’s reserve side coached by Johannes “Ryder” Mofokeng to fill in the position of third goal keeper, after Rowen Fernandez and Aubrey Mathibe.

“We are thrilled with Khune’s potential, his judgement, bravery and vision are a marvel and we welcome him to the senior side,” added Mafani.

Chiefs will not be in action this week as some of their players will be involved in national team assignments, including Bafana Bafana players Rowen Fernandez, Siphiwe Mkhonza and Derrick Spencer.
