“We have all the players back in training. The Bafana Bafana players joined us yesterday (Tuesday),” says Baxter, speaking to the media during the Kaizer Chiefs Media Open Day on Wednesday morning.
Bafana Bafana players, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Mandla Masango, Bernard Parker, Brilliant Khuzwayo and Erick Mathoho, all returned to the Club from National Duty in Equatorial Guinea.
“Everybody looks fresh. We have one new signing, David (Zulu) joining us during this window period,” continues Baxter.
“Kingston Nkhatha left us unexpectedly, but I always work on the assumption that what if one key player gets a long term injury? It is the same with Kingston, we had Parker and Khune out on long term injuries and had to work out a plan to survive their absence.”
“The next stretch of the league plus the break are the challenges we have to overcome,” adds Baxter. “We knew at some stage the games will come thick and fast and we will try to be as competitive as possible,”
“I won’t lose sleep if we drop a point here and there, similarly I will not celebrate yet if we gain points, the league is a long way to go,” says Baxter.
“I am not thinking about the opponents charging at us. We are physically ready to compete,” concludes Baxter.
Baxter handed jersey number 4 to new signee David Zulu this morning, “We welcome David. David is aware of the challenge that lies ahead for him. He is working hard to gel into the team.
We will not rush him; we will give him time to settle before we start judging his performances,” says Baxter.
