The Executive Golf Day went underway without any glitches at Bryanston Country Club on Monday, 31 May 2010.

The Golf Day meant to contribute to the cause of the disadvantaged was postponed earlier this month due to bad weather conditions.

There were no excuses on Monday as the likes of the Executive Chairman himself, Kaizer Motaung, MD Bheki Shongwe, Marketing Director Jessica Motaung, MP Bantu Holomisa, Legends Donald ‘Ace’ Khuse, ‘Ryder’ Mofokeng, ‘Banks’ Setlhodi, Standard Banks’ Jonty Rhodes and many others took over Bryanston golf pitch. A pitch described by MC and golf legend, Dale Hayes as ‘the most immaculate in the country’.

Midfielder, Josta Dladla was the only player who traded his soccer boots for golf shoes and looked surprised when he and his golfing partner Thabo Phiri were called in the 18th place, “so we did well,” remarked the visibly elated Josta Dladla.

The day though belonged to Miguel Simoes and Kevin Carliell who won the first prize taking home among other things the 42-inch LCD screen courtesy of platinum plus sponsors of the event, Standard Bank.

“This is one of the golf days I have attended, for sure. The organisation here was brilliant & so was the pitch. It was the first time for me to come here and I am sure I will come back to defend the title,” said Miguel with a smile.

“I am here for the third time and this golf day was fabulous and the golf days are getting better and better each year that passes. This was of course for good cause and I want to congratulate Kaizer Chiefs for taking such a wonderful initiative. I also want to wish the Club all the best in their future endeavours,” said the equally delighted Kevin Carliell.

The iconic Kaizer Chiefs 40th anniversary jersey signed by the Executive Chairman, the entire first team with a picture of the young Kaizer Motaung also inserted was auctioned for a whopping R25 000 including a plaque that had all the flags for the participating teams in the FIFA World Cup 2010 and framed pics of iconic golfer, Gary Player.

The occasion was also graced by Comedian, Loyiso Gola who kept the audience in stitches with his jokes just before the start of the prize giving ceremony.

Executive Chairman, Kaizer Motaung paid tribute to all the sponsors and all those who took part on the event contribute funds to Carroll Shaw Fund that takes care of orphans living with HIV/abuse/domestic violence, etc. He also announced the establishment of Kaizer Chiefs Foundation which is a regulatory body for all Kaizer Chiefs CSI programmes.

Kaizer Chiefs would like to once more congratulate all the winners and most importantly the sponsors who made the event a resounding success.
