Bafana Bafana captain, Itumeleng Khune, insisted on Friday afternoon that they will be looking to improve when they come face to face with Ethiopia on Sunday, 16 June 2013 in Ethiopia.
Bafana Bafana need to beat group leaders Ethiopia to stand a chance of qualifying for the next round of qualifications to the Fifa 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Captain Khune was inspirational, leading from the back by keeping an important cleansheet in the 3-0 win against Central African Republic (CAR) in Cameroon last Saturday, 8 June 2013.
"The result against CAR was a confidence booster to the team, but we are not satisfied - we want to win more.
We will be looking to improve on Sunday when we meet Ethiopia in their own backyard, said 'Spider' speaking to kaizerchiefs.com while on the bus from Daula to the airport where they will be flying out to Ethiopia for the crucial qualifier.
It always feels special to win games away from home as they are a true test of character.
We had a great time in Cameroon and people were friendly towards us.
The journey continues...we know very well that we are not tourists but we have a duty to do for the country.
Preparations for the game on Sunday have gone quite well and everyone is ready to defend the pride of our country.
We know what to expect in Ethiopia and we will focus on what happens during the 90 minutes of play, everything else is secondary."
Khune believes that the current Bafana Bafana team is mentally strong; "We are stronger mentally and we know what to expect in away games."
We have what it takes to come back with maximum points in Ethiopia. It will not be easy but we are focused on our objectives."
The reigning PSL Footballer of the Year wished Dr Nelson Mandela a speedy recovery; "We have been keeping our fingers crossed for uTata and we continue to keep him and his family in our prayers. Tata, we wish you a speedy recovery," continued Khune.
Regarded as one of Africa's finest goalkeepers, Khune added that there is a extra motivation going to the game on Sunday.
"The game is played on June 16; we want to dedicate the game to the selfless youth of 1976 that put their lives on the line to bring about peace and freedom in our country.
Today we have a pleasure to represent our country in international tournaments because of their sacrifices.
"A win in Ethiopia will mean a lot to the youth and we are not taking this for granted."
Khune who seems to be having his fingers on the pulse praised the fathers as well; "The game also takes place on Father's Day and once again on behalf of the players here, Happy Father's Day to all fathers globally.
"I invite all South Africans to support us and keep us in their prayers," added the fired up Khune.
