Tsepo Masilela was awarded ‘Man of the Match’, following his sterling performance during the Soweto Derby last Saturday, 26 October 2013. Masilela, who recently earned his 50th Cap for the National Team, has attributed his performance to the support he is receiving from his wife, teammates and the supporters.
Masilela; “This is the first time I have earned the ‘Man of the Match’ award since I returned to play in South Africa. To me, this is about the Team and would have been happier if we bagged maximum points. I am disappointed that we didn’t gain maximum points.”
Masilela has been on a dazzling form since the start of the season has summed up his form to sheer hard work; “I don’t have special plans for the Derby. It is just that this season I started well with the team. I had a good preseason. I have not missed training sessions for any reason. I am in good shape because I spend most of the time in the training field.
“Most importantly I would like to thank my teammates, the coach and my wife for the support they give me. Football is my life. The supporters pay their last cent to watch us and we always want to put smiles on their faces.
“We received sad news before the game about one of the supporters who died in an accident involving their minibus traveling to the Derby from Durban. We were affected by the news. Death touches us all. I would like to express words of condolences as shared with the Kaizer Chiefs fraternity, to the family and friends of the late Mr Langa Ngcece. God be with his family and friends.”
