Glamour Boys set to reclaim the glory

The Glamour Boys will be hoping to keep the momentum when they come face to face with Mamelodi Sundowns at a colossal Soccer City Complex on Wednesday, 22 August 2012.

The first round tie on Wednesday evening is likely to be more hostile than usual in the wake of Amakhosi’s defeat at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 tie. The Glamour Boys responded the best way they know how giving AmaZulu a 6-0 drubbing in the Absa Premiership opener and they will want to show Sundowns that the win was not a fluke.

The game at Soccer City marks the first game for the Glamour Boys at home this season and tickets are already flying out of Computicket as the date for the game is quickly approaching.

Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung commented; “The game against Mamelodi Sundowns is a massive game for everyone associated with the Club. The game is about pride and also reclaiming our glory. The game is less about our defeat in the MTN8.

The game did leave scars on our hearts but we have moved on and now we look at keeping the momentum following our comprehensive win against AmaZulu.

“Games between the two sides have always been exciting affairs since the days of Jeff Butler and Screamer Tshabalala calling shots in the touchline while the likes of Donald Khuse and Ernest Mtawali were thrilling fans with their artistry on the pitch. The likes of Shane McGregor, Bennet Masinga left a mark with their goal scoring prowess and the banter between the Louis Tshoakane and Alex Shokoane ahead of the games can never be forgotten.

“Sundowns will be the first to admit that we have an edge against them due to our superior record against them but we all know that records before these games go out the window. The mood in the camp is high and we are ready to welcome Mamelodi Sundowns,”

Corporate Communications Manager added; “Preparations for the game started way back and we can assure the fans that all security plans ahead of this game have been addressed. Tickets are still on sale at Shoprite/Checkers including Computicket countrywide.

“We have been in touch with our branches through our Supporters Relations and Supporters Club and there is massive interest for this game. It is our aim to pain the stadium gold and black. There will be no extra sit for Sundowns supporters and we would like on this note to urge our fans to continue buying tickets early to avoid disappointment. We all know how important our fans are and this was demonstrated in Durban when the fans lifted the team as it touched down at King Shaka Airport in Durban. This time around it will not be different,” added Maphosa.

There will be entertainment galore on Wednesday; “This being our first home league game we will have artists, dj’s and dancers including prizes courtesy of our sponsors Vodacom for fans who arrive at the Stadium early,” added Jessica Motaung.

DJ Tokzen will also be spinning the discs. As it has been a norm in our home games; the supporters stand a chance of walking away with goodies courtesy of the Club and our main sponsors, Vodacom.

Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers at R40 for adults and R10 for children.

Kick off for this encounter is billed for 19:30.
