Gould out for the season

Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould has torn his Achilles tendon and will be operated today.

The 32-year-old went down in pain during the first half of the CAF Champions League encounter against Raja Casablanca. After being taken off, Amakhosi’s medical staff diagnosed that Gould had probably sustained an Achilles tendon rupture.

This was confirmed today in hospital. As a result, the strong defender will be out for the rest of the season.

There is more positive medical news on Tsepo Masilela, who had to be replaced at halftime of the Raja game due to hamstring problems.

However, since the return of the team in South Africa yesterday, a scan in a medical facility showed that no damage was done to the hamstring. As a result of this good news, the 29-year-old left-back has travelled today with the team to Polokwane for Thursday’s match against AmaZulu.

Siphiwe Tshabalala, who had dental problems, is back in the squad.

Amakhosi will host Usuthu for an Absa Premiership at Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium on Thursday evening (kick-off at 19:00).
