The Premier Soccer League match between title-chasers Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars at Ellis Park will now take place on Thursday and not Wednesday as originally scheduled.
Chiefs, who were involved in the Confederation of African Football (Caf) Cup competition over the weekend, requested a postponement to allow their players time to regroup after their 2-0 win against Sunshine SC in the Seychelles.
The players only arrived home on Monday, and the club felt they needed more time to prepare for the crucial league match. The Naturena side is in the race for the league championship and any slip-ups at this stage could rule them out of title contention.
Chiefs are fourth on the log with more games to play than other title contenders. With five games to go Chiefs are considered the dark horses in the race and have to win all their remaining matches to lift the title.
Amakhosi's next game against Golden Arrows, originally penciled in for Saturday, will now take place a day later at Ellis Park, with a 15:30 kickoff.
Chiefs will play against Wits University on May 23 at Johannesburg Stadium and then Manning Rangers in Chatsworth on May 30. The last match will be a replay of the abandoned fixture against Orlando Pirates on June 2 at Ellis Park.
Meanwhile, Chiefs defender Lifa Gqosha will be out for three weeks with a strained right leg muscle. Midfielder Thabo Mooki could be back following a week on the sidelines with injury.
Defending league champions Sundowns will be in a top-of-the-table clash against Orlando Pirates in Loftus on Wednesday at 20:00.
