Heritage Day is a South African public holiday celebrated on 24 September. On this day, South Africans across the spectrum are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people.
"Let us all celebrate the day by remembering the cultural heritage of the many cultures that make up the population of South Africa. I would like to wish all to enjoy various events as staged throughout the country to commemorate this day," said Kaizer Chiefs's Executive Chairman, Mr Kaizer Motaung.
Today's celebrations will include the titanic clash between archrivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in MTN 8 semi-final 2nd leg. The game is taking place at the historic Orlando Stadium.
The game is a sold out affair and soccer followers are advised to arrive early at the stadium, observe road closures (from 09:00) and transportation information that were earlier publicised via Kaizer Chiefs media platforms.
The gates open at 12:00 and the organizers have prepared a lineup of entertainment for early birds.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
