Hellenic shocked Kaizer Chiefs at the Greenpoint Stadium on Saturday, running out 2-1 winners in a Premier Soccer League match.

The Greek Gods led 2-1 at the break.

After a lengthy spell at the bottom of the log Hellenic have now gone four matches without tasting defeat.

Their first win came against Sundowns.

Chiefs attacked from the onset and in the second minute Marco Mthembu crossed for Kenny Niemach, who failed to connect.

Three minutes later Mthembu let loose with a fierce shot from the edge of the box but Hellenic goalkeeper Gareth Ormshaw was equal to the task, saving well.

Ormshaw again came to the rescue when he dived at the feet of Justice Sithole in the eighth minute.

On the quarter hour Sithole's header was brilliantly saved by Ormshaw.

Chiefs breached the Hellenic defence in the 22nd minute when a Phumlani Mkhize cross was headed in by Sithole.

The home side never gave up and levelled the score in the 27th minute when former Chiefs player Robert Nauseb took a corner from the left and George Hummell rose high to head home.

A minute later Hellenic striker Darryl Smith crossed from the left and former Swallows striker Patrick Nngiza missed a sitter.

At the other end Ormshaw saved from point blank range from Thabo Mooki.

Hellenic took the lead two minutes before the break when Ningiza centered and Smith sent the ball wide of a despairing Brian Baloyi.

In the 46th minute Mkhize sent through a low cross but Ormshaw came to Hellenic's rescue saving from the advancing Niemach and Sithole.

In the second half Chiefs tried hard to equalise but excellent defence and brilliant goalkeeping saw Chiefs lose their second game in four days.

Hellenic's new coach Bruce Grobellaar said before the match that his players would give their all and this they did, and several players were injured for the cause, at one stage playing with nine men.

In injury time Hellenic's Shaheem Bobbs was sent off for dissent.
