Fans without tickets should keep well clear of the FNB Stadium on Saturday these were the words of Premier Soccer League Spokesperson Ntambi Ravele who broke the news on Friday that the tickets for the 21st edition of the annual season opening event had been sold out.

When the Charity Cup holds its 21st birthday on Saturday it will be in front of 72 000 supporters, who will be in for a feast of football and will be able to watch three pulsating games and the league has pledge to allow them to do this in comfortable and safe environment. As the league has pulled out all the stops in ensuring that safety of the fans is their number one priority ahead of this years Telkom Charity Cup.

Part of the ring of steel around the stadium will see supporters having to go through a number of check points before being allowed in the vicinity of the stadium, fans with out tickets will not be allowed to pass through the first security check point. These have been set up along side all roads leading to the stadium and in total there will be five check points in different areas around the stadium which will prevent fans without tickets from gaining excess to the stadium.

The final day of selling saw the 10 000 odd open market tickets sold out early on Friday which means that despite the cold weather, fans of significantly warmed up towards contributing their part to the various meaningful causes that benefit from donations which stem from proceeds of the Telkom Charity Cup.

For the first 15 000 fans turning up early to the stadium, when the gates open at 07h30 on Saturday Morning the will receive special commerrative Telkom Charity Cup T-Shirts, Zola Nkhutha sponsorship manager for Telkom said “ we know it’s cold so we want to reward those come early to the stadium on Saturday morning by giving them this incentive”.

Kaizer Chiefs head of security and logistics Thami Mayaluza has also come out with a strong message urging fans to turn up early at the stadium on Saturday “I know that Chiefs are playing in the second game but I would still like to tell our fans to be there early, there are additional security checks which could take you a while to get into the stadium”.

In a break with tradition the PSL have opted to kick off all the games ½ hour earlier than usual, which means that the first game between Orlando Pirates and Bloemfontein Celtic will begin at 09h30 and the second game of the day, which sees The Amakhosi in action against PSL Champions Mamelodi Sundowns, will begin at 11h30.

The league have also made a decision to start the Final at 16h30, which they have stated is for security reasons, between the second semi final and the final fans will be entertained by various artist.
