Striker, Lucky Khune told kaizerchiefs.com that the goal against Cape Town All Stars on Saturday evening was a culmination of hard work and the belief the Technical Team has shown in his ability.
The young striker has featured in all the games since the league resumed after the Africa Cup of Nations. The game first game against Jomo Cosmos was a turning point for the Ventersdorp he helped the Glamour Boys to earn a point with Cosmos having taken a lead.
It was Khune’s through ball that set up for Lehlohonolo Majoro to grab an equaliser for the Amakhosi and the later returned the favour of Saturday evening setting up for the former Chiefs Development player to score his first official goal.
“I have been working hard in training since the preseason in June last year. I got an opportunity but got injured now I am in a good physical shape and stronger mentally.
“It was a matter of time before things started happening for me. I also want to thank the Technical Team for believing I can do the job.
“I am really happy to have scored my first official goal for the Club and now I am motivated to work harder and if an opportunity comes I will grab it with both hands. There is more to be done and for me it is a case of knuckling down and payback the Technical Team for the faith they have shown in me.
Khune announced his arrival in the big time league when he scored a stunner against Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Charity Cup back in 2010/2011 season having promoted from the development a during the 2009/2010 season.
“It was always going to take time to acclimatise on how things are being done in the first team. I would like to thank my teammates in this regard for a support not only to me but all the other younger players in the team.
