Siphiwe Tshabalala explained his celebration after he scored a stunning scorcher against Ajax Cape Town as Amakhosi pushed aside the Cape Town based outfit to cement their position on top of the Absa Premiership.

The 5th of December 2012 marked the second anniversary since the star midfielder lost his beloved mother, Rebecca Tshabalala who was his pillar of strength.

The midfielder dedicated his SAFA Footballer of the Year 2010 and his goal in the Telkom Knockout final against Orlando Pirates including the winner’s medal to his late mom.

On Tuesday, Shabba, as the player is affectionately known put a superb performance and the goal was the cherry on top.

“I told myself before the game that I am going to play for her,” said the soft spoken Bafana Bafana international speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after the proceedings."

“I also had her picture on my BBM and promised myself that even if we win or lose I will play for her. I dedicated the goal to her and I know that she smiled when I scored and when we won the game. She was not only my fan but she loved my team as well.

The goal was his second of the current season, “It is always nice to watch your shot hitting the back of the net. It was more important especially that we won the game to return to our winning ways. We can now focus on the Soweto derby this coming Saturday."

Shabba played one of his best games for the Club back in March in the Soweto Derby when he inspired Amakhosi to reduce the first half 3-0 deficit to 3-2.

“That game is now water under the bridge. We need to focus from the first minute and play our normal game."

Shabba also urged the supporters to rally behind the team; “The fans are our backbone and continue to play a big part in the Club’s success. We will rely on them again on Saturday to rally behind the team. On the occasions where we beat Orlando Pirates it always started on the stands, their voices, the songs and the Vuvuzelas. We can do it together again this Saturday,”
