Morgan Gould has described his move to Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs as a fulfilment of his childhood dream.
The hard tackling defender signed a four deal with the Club that is going to keep him at Naturena until end June 2016.
“I am delighted to have finally signed for Kaizer Chiefs. It is a dream of every youngster to play for one of the biggest teams in Soweto and for me having grown up in Noordgesig near Orlando.
Morgan, welcome to the Family? You might be delighted that finally you have made the move to the Glamour Boys…
Morgan Gould: I am overwhelmed and words alone cannot describe how I feel right now and I cannot wait to don the gold and black. I am also happy that the Club never gave up on me and kept on enquiring about my services.
Which team did you follow growing up?
Morgan Gould: I liked couple of teams because at home my dad was following Orlando Pirates, my mum was following Mamelodi Sundowns and my grandma was a Swallows supporter. I was always caught between all of them and I guess I completed the puzzle as I had a soft spot for Chiefs. (Laughing)
Who were you heroes growing up in Noordgesig?
Morgan Gould: My hero has always been Kaizer Chiefs legend, Lucas Radebe. He is currently my mentor. I admired him from a distance growing up. I speak to him regularly and he also had good advice for me on which team I should join.
On the pitch he was quality, a solid defender and it is no wonder he achieved a lot in his career.
What do you want to achieve during your four stay with the Glamour Boys?
Morgan Gould: I am obviously going to take things step by step. I want to win trophies with the Club. I want to bring something that to the Club, unite the fighting spirit that helped us to win a couple of leagues titles in my previous Club.
I am an easy going guy and I am close to all the guys. I am willing to work hard, if the guys work hard I will work twice as hard. The team for me comes first and I really want to win trophies with the team more than anything else.
You must be happy that there are couple of your Club teammates in the national team…
Morgan Gould: Oh yes! We are all excited about next season and we cannot wait for preseason to start but our focus now is on the national team.
Talking about the national team; two tough games against Ethiopia and Botswana; what are your impressions?
Morgan Gould: (jumping in) The World Cup qualifiers? Look it is not going to be easy but this is a time for us to do well. We need to go out and win both games against Ethiopia and Botswana. We owe this to the nation that has supported us through and through. I have bit of information on Botswana and we know what to expect when we meet.
