Kaizer Chiefs would like to clarify the matter of Kaizer Chiefs’ Home Games at FNB Stadium.
In our view, there is no confusion as concerns have been raised publicly around the scheduling of events at FNB stadium. For Kaizer Chiefs it is a matter of SMSA having an existing contract with Kaizer Chiefs. The contract specifies obligations by the two parties and it also details cooperation with regard to the stadium serving as Kaizer Chiefs home ground and Peter Mokaba Stadium serving as the Club’s alternative home ground in accordance to the Rules of the PSL.
At the Soweto Derby Post Match Press Conference on 9 March 2013, Coach Baxter responded to a media enquiry about Kaizer Chiefs playing its home game in the Last 16 of Nedbank Cup away from their home ground which is FNB Stadium.
Due to FNB Stadium hosting an event and the unavailability of Peter Mokaba Stadium on the weekend of 16 March 2013, the PSL and the Club had to take the Nedbank Cup Last 16 fixture against Polokwane City to Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Kaizer Chiefs would like all concerns to be resolved for the good of the game.
