The loss recorded as third since the beginning of the term has dampened the team's spirit that was displayed during the annexure of the Telkom Knockout trophy; a factor that has become bothersome to the hardworking Technical Team.
The Technical Team has since been working hard to rekindle the passion of the players who were also affected by the tragedy that befell their star kingpin; Siphiwe Tshabalala whose mother succumbed to a short illness the previous week.
With such factors obviously causing an anticlimax in the Amakhosi family, a meeting with Wits University obviously poses a major threat to an otherwise good start to the league programme.
Despite the rain soaked training session, the mood changed when Shabba reported to a warm hearted welcome by colleagues who suddenly showed rushed adrenalin to be selected for the Polokwane evening encounter against The Students.
Prospects for victory looked good with Itumeleng Khune displaying flashes of brilliance during training.
The normally subdued George Lebese and the hungry Kaizer Motaung Jnr. exerted enough energy to fight for selection.
The focus of the Technical Team was also on the defense, a department that has conceded easy goals in recent league matches.
Expressing confidence over his team, Football Manager Bobby Motaung assured supporters that “the players will be in full mettle as displayed by their willingness to fight for their position during training.
Admittedly, the loss to Free State Stars has not gone down well particularly after our good showing in the Telkom Knockout Cup.
This time around we are challenged to remain consistent in the race for the championship of the ABSA Premiership title, an achievement that has eluded the team for many years”.
The presence of Kaizer Chiefs in the normally quiet Limpopo province will attract thousands of supporters to an integrated Road Safety CSI Programme that has been organized by the Department of roads, transport and Public Works.
Players, officials and organized supporter structures will be engaged in road-safety advocacy campaigns that will conscientize motorists during the festive seasons.
Activities will start at the Kranskop tollgate and the adjacent Engen Garage where players will surprise motorists with messages of road-safety and courtesy.
Furthermore, the team will conduct football clinics at the Ga-Masenamela Village, the home of the grafting Punch Masenamela.
Road Shows will be spread throughout the city centre and the sedate Mankweng, the home of the famous and highly academic University of Limpopo (Turfloop).
Marketing Director Jessica Motaung was equally upbeat with CSI Programmes.
“Our association with the Department of Roads in pursuit of road safety advocacy during festivities, will help enhance our marketability in the often neglected provinces.
We are delighted to bring our brand in areas and communities that are football-starved with the hope of sustaining our supporters’ structures and its influence.”
The in-fashion Professor, famous for the hit-song “Imoto – echonchimali”, a theme song adopted by Kaizer Chiefs Supporters during the eventful defense of the Telkom Knockout will certainly rock the elegant Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Ticket sales are flying out of Checkers and Computicket at R40 for adults and R10 for children.
The Amakhosi Supporters Club Crew will also be on duty to recruit members and sell fashionable merchandise that has hit major retail stores.
