The Kaizer Chiefs Executive Chairman Kaizer Motaung was honoured by the State President Jacob Zuma with the National Order of Ikhamanga in a ceremony held at the Presidential Guest House in the Capital City on Freedom Day, 27 April 2013. The National Orders are conferred yearly by the Presidency.

National orders are the highest awards that a country can bestow on its citizens or eminent foreigners. South Africa's national orders reflect the inclusiveness and diversity of a democratic South Africa, our people and our place in the African continent - in essence, the spirit of the democratic South Africa.

"By acknowledging and paying homage to our heroes and heroines, the ceremony elevates the spirit expressed in the preamble of our Constitution. Today we are honouring individuals who walked the extra mile to improve the lot of humanity and have contributed in elevating our country to great heights among other nations," Zuma said.

The honour is another feather in the cap to the Chiefs supremo after he was recently recognised for his mentorship and leadership role by the Black Business Executive Circle. Despite the accolades and many achievements he continues to earn, ‘Chincha Guluva’ remains consistent, dedicated and committed to his role in the socioeconomic development of South Africa and beyond.

In accepting the award, Mr Motaung expressed his humility and thanked President Jacob Zuma for the “gesture”. He dedicated and shared the award with his immediate family, Amakhosi at large, men and women that “helped to shape and nature” his contribution to the development of football in South Africa.

Kaizer Chiefs in its entirety would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Chairman for another achievement and for continuing to shine the light in the way of many across the board.
