What motivates you?
Mcdonald Selepe
Dominic Mateba: (Laughs)…lot of things but nothing comes close to my parents. The way they brought me up and supported me as a child. They really inspired me and that motivates me to work even harder in achieving my dreams.
I have read with great interest the hype about you with Pirates fighting for your services. What kind of a player is Dominic Mateba, which positions do you play and what are you bringing to the team?
Macdonald Maake
Dominic Mateba: Dominic Mateba is a hard worker. I am being used as an attacking midfielder. I think the Coach signed me to score goals and create opportunities for my teammates. I think I am going to help the team in whichever way I can so that we can continue to win trophies including the league title one day.
I am glad that you are playing for Amakhosi. Make sure that you carry the no. 12 jersey with pride…
Bongane Benedict Vilakazi
Dominic Mateba: (Cuts in) It is an honour that the Club has handed me the no. 12 jersey. I am aware that legends like Ace Ntsoelengoe, Ace Khuse & Thabo Mooki, used the number. No one has used the number since Thabo Mooki hung up his boots. I will do my talking on the field.
Who are some of the guys you played with at Orlando Pirates Development who have made it professionally and what car do you drive?
Bruce Rikhotso
Dominic Mateba: I have played with Mduduzi Nyanda, Michael Morton, and Augustine Leonard. I do not have a car at the moment.
How old are you? Where do you come from? When did you start playing football? Which team did you grew up supporting? What are your ambitions? Who is your favourite player locally and abroad?M
Philly Phalane
Dominic Mateba: I am 22 years old born in Free State in a place called Rammulotsi.
I started playing the game at Renyakelletse Primary School at the age of 7. I was playing as a striker but at Orlando Pirates Development I was converted to an attacking midfielder.
The team I grew up supporting was Orlando Pirates.
It is my ambition to play regularly for Kaizer Chiefs and win trophies including the league title.
My favourite players locally; Itumeleng Khune, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Siphiwe Tshabalala and abroad it has to be AC Milan midfielder, Ronaldinho and Christiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid.
I am your staunch supporter and Khosi 4 Life, but Chief when do you think your time will come…
Thokozani Mkhize
Dominic Mateba: It depends to when the Coach feels I am ready to do the business for the Club. I am now working hard at training and when I get an opportunity I will grab it with both hands. Thank you Thokozani for your support.
What do you think Barcelona FC is doing different compared to Kaizer Chiefs on the field? I think they are doing basics right…
Thabo Mpshe
Dominic Mateba: Mhmmm, I do not think there is a lot of difference between the two teams but what is maybe different is how the Coach wants both teams to play…the philosophy of the two coaches. I agree with you, Barcelona is playing basic football and they have some of the best players in the world.
We hardly know each other but you are my homeboy, make us proud! I know there can be lot of temptations and do not be tempted by wrong things…
Pappa Sebogoli
Dominic Mateba: Thanks for your words. I will do my level best not to disappoint you. I am determined to represent both Rammulotsi and Kaizer Chiefs Family with pride.
Who is your best friend at Chiefs?
Dominic Mateba: I am close to all the players but my best friends are Lucky Khune and George Lebese. George is a bit naughty but a very humble person. The same with Lucky he is also naughty, likes to joke around and making everyone in his company comfortable. I have a lot in common with both guys and we spend a lot of time together.
Who is your role model?
Dominic Mateba: It has to be my mother, Ouma and also my brother, Tshwanelo.
