Former stars Doctor Khumalo and Donald Khuse were on Wednesday officially appointed as assistants to new coach Ted Dumitru.

Club managing director Kaizer Motaung confirmed that the two - who took control of the first team when Muhsin Ertugral left in January - would work together with Dumitru while they enhance and sharpen their own coaching skills.

"The two (Khumalo and Khuse) kept us alive for the past six months and they will now work very closely with Ted as assistant coaches," said Motaung.

Dumitru was equally thrilled at the prospect of working with his former students. "I gave Doctor a push when a lot of people thought he was not ready to play. Hopefully I will give him and Ace a push into the coaching world," said Dumitru, who added that he was comfortable in referring to the two as his colleagues and not assistants.
