Kaizer Chiefs captain, Itumeleng Khune is expected to lead Bafana Bafana against Lesotho as a new permanent captain on Sunday, 02 June 2013.



Khune who on Friday during Kaizer Chiefs awards continued with his clean sweep bagging four awards including Club's Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season early this year when Bafana Bafana played against the Central African Republic.



Bafana Bafana Coach, Gordon Igesund announced Khune as the new Bafana Bafana captain on a permanent basis.



"It is an honour to have been appointed captain of the national team," he told kaizerchiefs.com.



"I thank Coach Gordon Igesund for giving me such an honour. I can only promise the fans that I will lead Bafana Bafana with pride.



"Just like at Chiefs I am surrounded by many players and leaders at Bafana Bafana so my job should be easier.



"We need to work together in making Bafana Bafana a force in Africa once again. I believe with the current coach and the players we will reach our goals.



"Together with 'Shabba' (Siphiwe Tshabalala) we will have to sit with the rest of the team and share our experiences of travelling around the continent.



"Going to Cameroon to play Central African Republic and facing Ethiopia away will be a mammoth task but we are up to it.



"We want to represent the country in the next world cup in Brazil.



We are playing Lesotho as part of the preparations for the two tough world cup qualifiers.



"We need to beat Lesotho and send a strong message to the other teams we will be meeting later this month.
