George ‘WhatsUp’ Lebese has promised to bounce back following an injury that will sideline him for up to two months.

Lebese affectionately known to kaizerchiefs.com as ‘WhatsUp’ has been a regular in Stuart Baxter’s team this season and broke his collar bone when Chiefs welcomed Free State Stars on the 16th of February.

The Club’s Medical Team confirmed that Lebese will be out of action for a period of six to eight weeks, ruling him out of action for the month of March.

“It was painful on the day it happened but the pain is no more now. I am resting at home and I will start rehabilitation in the first week of March,” said Lebese speaking from his residence in Johannesburg.

“I am glad that the injury is not on the ankle or knee or something that might affect me in the near future.

“I am disappointed though that I am going to miss out on battling it out with my teammates on the field. I have been watching the games on TV and I am happy that we have been winning games.

“We want to do well as the team this season and watching the game against BidVest Wits in Mpumalanga and Leopards in Polokwane it was good to see the fans rallying behind the team.

Lebese also revealed that he has received a lot of support from his teammates, at Kaizer Chiefs Village and from the fans, “It has been encouraging to receive such support. It can be depressing waking up knowing you are not going to training but thanks to the support that I get not only from my teammates, friends and fans but also from staff and members of the Management at Naturena.

“Injuries do happen and I am hoping to bounce back stronger and more determined to help the team in both the Nedbank Cup and the Absa Premiership,” added Lebese.
