Gauteng MEC of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile congratulated Kaizer Chiefs for winning the double during his Budget 2013 Speech Presentation at the Gauteng Legislature in Johannesburg on Friday, 31 May 2013.
The Club was represented at this annual momentous occasion by Corporate Communications Manager, Vina Maphosa and Media Relations Officer, Luthando Zibeko.
There was a big cheer as the MEC congratulated the Club with the trophies on display in the House.
"We congratulate Kaizer Chiefs for Reclaiming The Glory by winning league and cup double. Gauteng is indeed Home of Champions.
The Amakhosi are also the current holders of Gauteng Cup," said Maile announcing that the Gauteng Sport Challenge will continue in this financial year.
The MEC also announced the Province will continue rewarding excellence through the Gauteng Sports Awards. Kaizer Chiefs Executive, Kaizer Motaung was honoured last year with a Lifetime Achievement award.
Maile also congratulated the other Gauteng-based Champions in various sporting codes.
The total allocation for the department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in the 2013/2014 is R537, 292 million.
