Kaizer Chiefs defender Tefu Mashamaite has said that to be part of the Bafana Bafana team is a good experience for him.

Tefu is part of the 23-man Bafana Bafana squad taking part in the CHAN tournament. So far Bafana Bafana has won 1 and drawn 1 of their Group A matches and as a result they occupy the top position of the group on goal difference.

“It has been fun here at Camp. The National Team is a different experience from the Club setup. I am happy to be given this chance to grow and mature at this level. At the moment the team spirit is high,” said Mashamaite.

“Competition for places in the squad is high. At the moment I have been enjoying forming part of the squad and encouraging the Team from the bench. The spirit is high in camp. The result against Mali last night was disappointing and that’s normal but we didn’t lose the game. Mali is one of the contenders in the tournament. They are one of the good and organised sides in the tournament. To draw against them is not a train smash,” commented Mashamaite.

“We still have a good chance. We will continue competing and working hard to get a result against Nigeria on Saturday. The game against Nigeria will not be easy just like any other game. Every game we play is a do or die,” said the player they call ‘Masha’ in football circles.

Bafana Bafana will take on Nigeria in their final Group A match on Sunday, 19 January 2014 at Cape Town stadium. Kick-off is at 19:00.
