Tefu Mashamaite said the team’s biggest motivation ahead of their game against Black Leopards on Saturday, 15 September is three points.
The towering defender has done very well following the injury suffered by Morgan Gould before the game against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Tefu Mashamaite affectionately known as ‘Masha’ at the Village spoke to kaizerchiefs.com following a training session at the Gym on Tuesday afternoon; “It does not matter whether you are playing against Black Leopards or Orlando Pirates the biggest motivation for us is three points. It is important for us to do that if we harbour any ambitions to win the league this season.
Mashamaite said he was aware of the competition for places in a Club as big as Kaizer Chiefs and he never felt he was playing ‘second fiddle’ to any player; “Competition for places in such a big Club is always fierce and I was aware of this when I embarked on this journey.
“The Coach can pick eleven players for each game and personally I have never felt I am second choice or playing a second fiddle to any player.”
“I am always ready to play but I take into consideration that not all of us can play at the same time. It then becomes important that as a player you psyche yourself up and when the opportunity to play presents itself you are ready. The season is long and there are injuries, suspensions etc and it is upon all of us to be ready to do duty for the team when we are called to do so,” said Mashamaite.
‘Masha’ scored goals at his previous Club and is now determined to do the same in the famous gold and black; “It is something that I am working on in training now; to put my name in the scoresheet and help my team win games. I scored goals during my time at Bidvest Wits and I would like to do the same here at Chiefs.”
“Of course as a defender my priority is first to defend and as a collective help the team keep as many clean sheets as possible. We have conceded one goal in three games in the league this season and we would like to continue like that. Our objective does not get any better than winning the league this season,” added Mashamaite.
The game takes place at the Soccer City Complex kickoff 20:15. Tickets are available at Shoprite/Checkers and Computicket nationwide selling at R40 and R10 for adults and juveniles respectively.
