It all looked to be going well for the Club’s no. 24 when the Technical Staff handed him a captain’s armband against Manchester City in the Vodacom Challenge final that the Glamour Boys won at Loftus.
Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com the player affectionately known in the football circles as DVD paid tribute to his teammates for keeping him out of the team.
“I continued working hard at training and nothing changed but credit should go to my teammates who did well in my position during the season,” he said.
“I played well during the Vodacom Challenge and I was determined to improve from last season but things did not go my way. I was not too disappointed though sitting on the bench as my teammates did well on the field of play,” said Mathebula speaking to kaizerchiefs.com
He also added that he is also hoping to make more appearances next season having made 8 appearances in the starting line up and appeared 7 times as substitute in whole season.
