Eric ‘Tower’ Mathoho was in good spirits as Bafana Bafana boarded a flight to Warsaw where they will face Poland in an International Friendly on Friday, 12 October 2012.
Mathoho was solid as he helped his Club to keep a clean sheet against his former team Bloemfontein Celtic last Saturday; “We wanted to win the game but then again a point as better than nothing. I had an opportunity to catch up with some of my former teammates after the game. I spoke to couple of them before the game.
They were tough to break down but we will have a plan for them when we meet up again in the second round,” he added with a smile.
Mathoho is with five other Chiefs players who have been called into the Bafana Bafana squad by Coach, Gordon Igesund. Their attention is now to the International Friendly games against Poland and Kenya.
“Bafana Bafana did quite well even though we lost against Brazil and won against Mozambique. We do not need to change much but carry on with the same attitude. We want to do well everytime we don the national team jersey and we will give our all against Poland. They will be tough but we can definitely beat them in their own backyard.
Mathoho sat on the bench on both games against Brazil and Mozambique; “Competition for places in the national team is fierce but I am going to continue giving my best at Chiefs and during training sessions with Bafana Bafana. I am learning a lot from the senior players and when I get my opportunity I will make sure that I grab it with both hands,” added Mathoho.
