Lincoln ‘Harare’ Zvasiya believes that he and his Zimbabwean teammates have what it takes to get a result on Tuesday evening when they come face to face with once feared Africa’s powerhouse Egypt in Cairo for the World Cup qualifiers.

The no nonsense defender was one of two players selected by the Zimbabwe national team for the Group G, from the Club but Matthew Rusike was forced to withdraw due to injury.

The current crop of players led by former Club’s hitman, Knowledge ‘Smiling Assassin’ Musona is hoping to achieve what the icons Peter Ndlovu and Benjani Mwaruwaru did not achieve by qualifying for the World Cup for the first time.

Zimbabwe, who have lost one and drawn one in two games, is aware of the threat posed by hosts Egypt who are leading the group with six points after two games.

“It is going to be tough playing Egypt away. They are one of the best in the continent. We are going there with a mentality to fight for a win and in football it is not impossible to come back with the result said the player affectionately known to kaizerchiefs.com as ‘Harare’.

“We want to do well having had a slow start in the qualifiers. It is every player’s dream to do well for the national team and we know what is at stake.

Zvasiya has found it difficult to break into the Kaizer Chiefs but remains a member of the squad following the arrival of Morgan Gould and Eric Mathoho and has made few appearances so far this season.

“It is the first time in my career that I find myself in this situation. I continue to work hard in training and when I get a chance I will grab it. The Coach has been very encouraging so are my teammates. I am still happy to be part of such a great team fighting for trophies and when given an opportunity I will make my contribution,” added Zvasiya.
