Club’s longest serving Captain and now development Coach, Johannes “Ryder” Mofokeng insisted that the Vladimir Vermezovic side that lost against Vodacom outfit, Baroka on Sunday can still win the league this season.

Baroka pulled the biggest surprise in the Nedbank Cup sending the Glamour Boys packing with 2-1 victory in front of almost 30 000 supporters at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Ryder Mofokeng who watched from the bench back in 1978 in Seshego as the Phefeni Glamour Boys campaigning in the NPSL at that time were beaten 2-1 by Trott Moloto led Stone Breakers who were campaigning in the lower division, OK League.

“We never took the game lightly and we had the likes of Banks Sethlodi, Vusi “Computer” Lamola, Jan “Malombo” Lechaba, Sugar Muguyo, Nelson “Teenage” Dladla in the starting lineup but we came second best to a very determined side on the day,” recalled Ryder Mofokeng speaking to kaizerchiefs.com.

“On the day we tried all we could but still we lost the game. It was one of those days in football but we never dropped our heads,”

Kaizer Chiefs is currently lying on 3rd position in the Absa Premiership and they come face to face with 4th place Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, 01 May 2011.

“The boys should not drop their heads. They know exactly where they went wrong on Sunday and need to move on from what happened,”

We can bounce back against Sundowns. We can beat them for sure,” says the veteran defender with confidence.

“The team needs to dust themselves off…there is still a lot to play for. If we beat Mamelodi Sundowns, then Ajax Cape Town and go on to win the league the loss on Sunday will be water under the bridge,” added Mofokeng.
