Kaizer Motaung JNR sent a message of assurance and apology to the Chiefs faithful following a third consecutive defeat against Santos at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon.

“We would like to apologise to the fans that have supported the Club through and through. The fans are dying for this Club and as players we are aware that they are hurting at this stage,” said Motaung speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Monday afternoon.

Motaung was back in the team against Santos although he came in as a substitute, also defended his teammates who have taken a fair share of criticism from some section of the media and supporters.

“We have been working very hard in training together with the Technical Team to turn things around. It is our intention to win each and every game to give back also to our Chairman and supporters who have supported us through and through.

If you look at the past three games you will see that we have been going all out to try and attack and get goals!”

Motaung JNR added that the players are not taking the responsibility of wearing the gold and black lightly; “We are quite aware of the responsibility that comes with wearing the gold and black and I am sure I speak for all the guys when I say that we do not take this lightly. Things have not been working our way but sometimes these things happen in football.

We will go back to the training pitch and continue working hard to turn things around. We have five games left with SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns coming up on Saturday and Wednesday respectively so we cannot afford to dwell on what has happened in our last three games but focus on turning things around starting on Saturday,” added Motaung.

The Amakhosi still have mathematic chance of winning the league title but will be concerned in the manner things have turned around this season after being knocked out by Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup two weeks ago.
