For the Amakhosi the fact that the they did not proceed in the event has spelt some good news as Chiefs trio of players at the Nations Cup namely Jimmy Tau who was on duty for Bafana Bafana, Tinashe Nengomasha who ran the rule for the Zimbabwean national team and Louis Agyemang who for the most was on a learning curve at the nations cup with the Black Stars of Ghana.
Jimmy Tau returned back to South Africa on Wednesday and was met by team mate Fabian McCarthy whom he had telephoned to collect him from a hotel in Sandton used as a drop off and collection point by the South African National team.
Jimmy has been contacted by coach Ernst Middendorp to be at the Kaizer Chiefs village at 10h00 am on Thursday morning.
“Jimmy needs o get back with the team as soon as possible and we need to do some fitness and other test on him and gage what is his frame of mind at the present time” said the coach.
Although he is pleased to have his players back the coach is happy that Tinashe and Jimmy saw game time but is not pleased with the fact the Louis Agyemang was inactive for almost six weeks now.
The coach further added “Jimmy played two games although they were not his best performances he still got some action which kept him fit, Tinashe played well against Ghana and that will have done a lot for his confidence.
My concern at the moment is Louis Agyemang he needs to come back and start training and play in the friendly matches which we have organized, it is important for Louis to be match fit before we meet Sundowns on the 15th”.
Louis and Tinashe are expected back in South Africa some time on Thursday and will resume training with the rest of the team on Friday; it is unclear whether the three players will travel with the Amakhosi to Cape Town for a friendly game against Ajax Cape Town this weekend.
