“It always feels good to represent my country”, states Kaizer Chiefs striker Bongani Ndulula. “It is a player’s dream to represent his country.”
Ndulula, midfielder Hendrick Ekstein and defender Levy Mokgothu are all Kaizer Chiefs players drafted into the Bafana Bafana squad to face Angola in the first leg of the 2016 African Nations Championship (Chan) on Saturday, 17 October 2015, at Johannesburg’s Rand Stadium (kick-off is at 15:00).
“Angola has a fine team and they play good soccer,” stresses Ndulula.
South Africa’s assistant coach Thabo Senong is in charge in the absence of Shakes Mashaba, who toured with the more senior Bafana Bafana squad to Central America. Mashaba will only arrive back in South Africa on Saturday morning.
“We watched some footage about how the Angolans play,” says Ndulula, who, like the rest of the squad, is in high spirits. “We are not worried about them. We are working hard to prepare, so that we can win the match to take an advantage with us to the away game.”
The second leg of this Chan qualifier will be played a week later at Luanda’s 11 de Novembro Stadium in Angola.
