Sthembiso 'Valdez' Ngcobo took time this weekend to give back to the people of Ndwendwe, KwaZulu-Natal by organising a Sthembiso Ngcobo Tournament.

Ngcobo told kaizerchiefs.com that the objective of the tournament is to revive football structures in his home town.

"The tournament brought joy to the people of Ndwendwe and I am delighted in the manner the community responded to the initiative. We had eight teams who competed in the tournament. I was impressed with the talent and I have no doubt that another Sthembiso Ngcobo is going to come from this place. Siyabonga Nkosi and Brilliant Khuzwayo made appearances during the tournament while Ukhozi FM were the media partners. I am hoping to make it an annual tournament now and will speak to the local municipality to support the initiative."

Ngcobo was upbeat and ready to come back for the pre-season; "The long break at time can be a problem. I can't wait to join my teammates for pre-season. Kaizer Chiefs is like a second family and there is never a dull moment in the camp. We are quite aware of the challenge facing us in the upcoming season. We were all happy to win the double and the importance of defending the two cups can never be overemphasized."
