Siyabonga Nkosi believes that the team showed the right mentality during the first half of the season and has backed the team to continue where they left off in 2012.

Nkosi, arguably one of the best passers of the ball in the league was instrumental in ensuring the team starts on a high note with a 6-0 away to AmaZulu and an emphatic win against Mamelodi Sundowns at home, giving the Glamour Boys their first six points in their first two games of the season.

“We approached the season with a right attitude and the mentality to win,” said Nkosi speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after Friday morning training session at Club’s HQ, Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena.

“We were focused on winning - nothing else. We are all gunning for the championship this season and for that to happen we need to stay on the top as long as possible.

The Newcastle born midfielder, who won the league with SuperSport United back 2009/2010 season, is aware that the second round will be more challenging.

“It is going to be tricky and it is always the case at this stage of the season. The teams will now be more prepared and they know what we are capable of doing. The attitude of the team is still the same as in August before the start of the season. We are up to the challenge.

Nkosi is determined to give more than he did during the first half of the season; “I had a mixed first part of the season. Coming to a new environment was always going to have its challenges. There were also injuries which is part of the game.

I am determined to give more to the team and to the fans that have rallied behind us through thick and thin,” added Chiefs no. 10
