Doctor Khumalo insisted that there are no friendly games for Kaizer Chiefs. Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com ahead of their Macufe Cup game against Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday, 14 October 2012 at the Free State Stadium, Khumalo described the much anticipated game; “Macufe Cup happens during the Fifa Week which creates an opportunity in terms of continuity for the team. The game affords an opportunity for the players that have not had a chance to play regularly thus far in the season.”

The Club’s Assistant Coach was hard at work preparing for the training session while he continued to speak about the importance of the game: “We have to uphold the high standards that the Club has set in the past, the Chiefs badge is at stake whenever we play and everyone is well aware that we cannot degrade the gold and black badge.”

With a smile on a chilli and rainy morning at the Club’s headquarters, Khumalo who has played in the Macufe Cup in the past referred to the weekend festivities “The vibe created by the Mangaung African Cultural Festival makes the game the ‘cherry on top’ for soccer fans from the two teams. The stadium will be full as both teams command a huge following and more so encounters between the two teams have reached an arch-rival stage. Let me sum it up, there is no friendly game we play each game as a cup final.”

Kick-off for the game is at 15:00
