‘Red Hot’ striker, Bernard Parker paid a glowing tribute to his teammates and family after he was awarded the Player of the Quarter at the Premier League offices on Monday morning.

Parker currently Absa Premiership's leading goal scorer with 7 goals started the season with a bang scoring four goals against AmaZulu and never looked back ever since.

Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after receiving the award from Absa Sponsorship Manager Steward Masela, Bernard Parker admitted that he was a 'bit shocked' to get the award.

He commented; "I am a bit shocked that I have received this award. It was really not expected taking into consideration a number of clubs and players that are doing well in the Premiership. It is a surprise because all my teammates have been outstanding this season.”

"It would not have been possible to get this award without my teammates and I would like to thank them together with my family for the support. I am also grateful to the Technical Team that has shown a belief in my abilities as a player. I would like to thank the people who voted for me.”

Parker walked away with a trophy and a R15000 cheque for his effort.

"I speak almost everyday with Head Coach, Stuart Baxter; he is a top coach who has coached in Europe and worked for national associations. He told me during preseason which areas I needed to work on and this can be difficult as you have to manage the player's intelligence. Things have worked out and the Coach has brought the best out of everyone in the team.”

Turning his focus on Swallows Parker said; "It is a massive game. There is lot of history between the two Clubs and there will be pride at stake. We need to continue where we left off against SuperSport United. We also go to this game knowing that past results do not count.

"Swallows are one of the toughest sides in their Premiership and we need not be fooled by their position in the log. We need to stick to our game plan. We are playing at home and I would like to invite all Amakhosi faithful to come cheer us up. Our fans are very special and always make a difference and we hope they will once more come in numbers and join us as we Reclaim the Glory," added Parker.

The match between Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows is scheduled for Tuesday, 20 November 2012 at the Soccer City Stadium – kick-off is at 19:30. Tickets are still available at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers nationwide at R40 an Adult.
