Tebogo Potsane’s return to the pitch after being sidelined for an arduous eight months due to a serious injury was a heartwarming sight. His prolonged absence forced him to train away from the team, missing even the pre-season training camp in Turkiye in July, and now the talented forward has expressed his excitement to finally be back in action for Kaizer Chiefs.
Last Sunday, the Bloemfontein-born player made his comeback as a substitute in an electrifying clash against Polokwane City. Despite the team's struggles in the match, his presence made a significant impact on the game. Coming on in the second half, he showcased his skills and determination, contributing immensely by creating multiple scoring opportunities. His efforts were nearly rewarded when he struck the crossbar in a near-miss attempt that had fans in Polokwane on the edge of their seats.
“I’m really happy that the injury is behind me and I can now focus on playing,” said an emotional Potsane, “It was not easy at all watching from the sidelines due to injury but I’m grateful to have received the support from my family, team doctors and physios, teammates and technical team.
"I’m really thrilled to be back in the team and looking forward to getting more game time. I want to contribute to helping the team do well this season. As an attacking player, my job is to create goalscoring opportunities, assist or score and that’s what I’ve been working on. The supporters have been fantastic, and I urge them to continue backing us as we work hard on the pitch," he added.
Potsane’s comeback is not just a personal victory but a beacon of hope for the team and its loyal supporters. As the season unfolds, fans can expect to see more of his exciting influence in guiding the team towards success ahead.
“We have put the previous game behind us and our focus is on the next assignment against TS Galaxy on Monday. The game is important for us and we need to work hard to ensure that we come back from Nelspruit with three points. We know the team and we’ve studied their games. We have to apply ourselves and ensure we apply ourselves,” he said.
With a renewed sense of enthusiasm and determination, this ‘baller’ is ready to make his mark once again and play a key role in the team's journey in the upcoming games.
The Betway Premiership clash between the Rockets and Amakhosi kicks off at 15:30 on Monday at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
